The Renaissance Cinema House in Tashkent hosted the official presentation of 'The Director', a new memoir by People's Artist of Uzbekistan Dilorom Karimova. The book sheds light on painful historical events, backstage controversies, and bitter conflicts that have long plagued the development of the Uzbek theatrical scene.

The publication primarily focuses on the tragic fate of Toshkhoja Khojayev, one of the founding figures of professional Uzbek theater direction. Karimova details his immense contributions to the arts, his unceremonious removal from the position of chief director at the Hamza Theater due to intense internal intrigues, and his eventual marginalization by the very students he mentored. The second section, titled 'Theater', explores the severe factional split within the troupe in the late 1980s and the subsequent professional devastation faced by notable directors such as Bahodir Yuldoshev.

During the presentation event, prominent cultural figures, literary critics, and fellow artists praised the author's courage in addressing such sensitive and often ignored topics. Reviewers noted that the memoir transcends mere theatrical gossip, serving as a scathing critique of societal flaws such as envy, professional jealousy, and indifference, thereby offering a crucial cautionary tale for future generations of artists.
