According to the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, comprehensive measures are underway across Uzbekistan to curb harmful emissions and penalize environmental violations. Authorities have significantly strengthened oversight over industrial entities whose operations pose a threat to ambient air quality.
In Namangan, following complaints from residents in the 'Porlok' mahalla, Eco-Police inspected a soap-manufacturing facility operated by 'H.S.'. The inspection revealed that the plant lacked essential dust and gas filtration systems, allowing pollutants to enter the atmosphere unchecked, alongside a complete absence of state ecological clearance. Consequently, the facility's operations were temporarily suspended until full compliance is achieved.
Similar punitive actions were implemented in Tashkent's Sergeli district, where environmental inspectors discovered a greenhouse burning coal in violation of ecological standards using a malfunctioning filter. The operation of the greenhouse was temporarily halted, and the responsible individual was fined. The committee stated that these enforcement raids are operating around the clock.
Alongside regulatory enforcement, the country is pushing forward with industrial modernization and expanded monitoring systems. Industrial enterprises of categories I and II have been equipped with 459 automatic monitoring stations, while hundreds of facilities in Tashkent have undergone inventory audits. Authorities are also targeting vehicular emissions, expanding green spaces, and integrating advanced laboratory equipment to analyze airborne particulate matter.
