The cotton harvest season in Uzbekistan has concluded, with official data indicating that 3.5 million tonnes of cotton were collected nationwide. This figure shows a slight increase compared to last year's results but fell short of the government's target of 4 million tonnes.

A representative from the Ministry of Agriculture, Otabek Yusupov, stated: "Weather conditions were challenging this year, but our farmers worked hard. Efforts are ongoing to modernize cotton fields and manage water resources efficiently." He added that the government is implementing projects aimed at diversifying the cotton industry and technologically advancing agriculture.

Experts highlight the economic importance of the cotton harvest, noting its significance for Uzbekistan's exports and job creation. However, they point out that issues such as reliance on cotton monoculture and water scarcity remain unresolved, potentially threatening future sustainability.
