Flights HY-333 and C6-351 operated by Uzbekistan Airways and Centrum Air, en route from Tashkent to Dubai, were compelled to return to their departure point due to an emergency at Dubai International Airport following a drone attack. According to Dubai Airports, the strike caused a fire in a fuel tank, which was swiftly extinguished with no casualties reported.

Due to the temporary closure of Dubai Airport and partial restrictions on the airspace of the United Arab Emirates, the aircraft decided to turn back to Tashkent. To ensure safety, some flights have been redirected to other airports, including Al Maktoum. In areas adjacent to the airport, police have restricted traffic by closing key streets and tunnels.

This incident occurs against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, in recent days, the country's air defence systems have intercepted dozens of targets, including ballistic missiles and drones. Currently, Emirati airports are operating in a limited capacity, significantly impacting regional air traffic.

The situation unfolds after Israeli armed forces attacked military sites in Iran on February 28, which was officially confirmed by Israel's Defence Minister as a "preventive measure." Later, US President Donald Trump confirmed the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran, allegedly aimed at eliminating an "immediate threat" and preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. This has led to a major military confrontation in the region. Iran initiated retaliatory strikes, affecting not only Israel but also neighbouring Arab states, directly impacting transport hubs like Dubai.
