Following the rash decision by US President Donald Trump to join Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in launching a war with Iran, some journalists and commentators have propagated a narrative claiming a seismic split within the MAGA movement. This assertion, however, is largely unfounded and ignores the fundamental nature of Trump's political base.

While a handful of prominent MAGA figures, such as conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, podcaster Joe Rogan, and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have voiced concerns that the new Middle East conflict betrays the "America First" pledge and risks an endless war, their dissent has not translated into a broader rebellion. Trump reportedly parried the backlash with his trademark coarseness, dismissing critics and mocking allies who briefly turned detractors.

The MAGA movement is not a conventional political coalition bound by coherent principles; it is a phenomenon built around the ego and narcissism of one man—Donald Trump. His supporters view him as a charismatic champion against perceived enemies in Washington, and they filter his actions, including the shift towards war with Iran, through a lens of unwavering fidelity. Polls indicate that Trump's approval among Republican voters remains high, underscoring their steadfast trust in his judgment.

Despite unease among some MAGA influencers about the potential costs and dangers of a prolonged conflict with Iran, they have avoided sustained attacks on the president. Tucker Carlson, for instance, publicly reaffirmed his allegiance to Trump. This suggests that temporary disagreements within the movement are unlikely to lead to a lasting rupture, as straying too far from Trump's orbit risks irrelevance in the MAGA ecosystem.

The establishment media's persistent search for a dramatic MAGA schism repeatedly yields the same outcome: little substantive change. MAGA adherents prioritize loyalty to Trump over the logistics of war or the mercurial logic of "America First," seeing him as their voice. Consequently, any friction within the movement is expected to fade quickly, with skeptics inevitably reeled back by Trump's magnetic command, ensuring the movement's cohesion remains intact.
