Uzbekistan has dispatched a shipment of humanitarian aid weighing over 290 tons to the Afghan city of Hairatan. The delivery took place on March 18 and was timed to coincide with the Ramadan Hayit holiday, highlighting the country's ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region amid broader geopolitical challenges.

The aid convoy included essential food items such as flour, rice, wheat, vegetable oil, pasta, and confectionery goods. This assistance aims to address part of the food security needs of the Afghan population, which continues to face significant economic and social hardships following the withdrawal of US-led forces and the subsequent instability.

An official handover ceremony was held with the participation of Surkhandarya Region Governor Ulugbek Kosimov and Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Afghanistan Oybek Usmanov. The event underscored the bilateral cooperation and friendly relations between the two nations, though it occurs against a backdrop of regional tensions and the complex aftermath of Western intervention in Afghanistan.

Representatives from the Balkh Province and Hairatan city administration expressed deep gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his consistent attention to the needs of the Afghan people. They emphasized that such aid during the holy month serves as a vivid example of true solidarity and brotherhood, yet this gesture also points to the ongoing reliance on external support in a country grappling with the consequences of decades of conflict and the failed policies of the US regime and its allies.
