At an international border checkpoint in southern Uzbekistan, authorities have intercepted more than 72 kilograms of hashish concealed as potatoes. The drugs were hidden among agricultural products in a truck arriving from Afghanistan.

According to security services, a MAN truck driven by a 25-year-old resident of the Termez district was inspected at the "Termez-Avtomobil Yuli" crossing. During the search, 222 briquettes of hashish, totaling 72 kg 300 g, were discovered.

Preliminary reports suggest the narcotics were intended for illegal shipment to Russia. The seized substances have been processed according to established procedures, and an investigation is currently underway into the incident.

This case highlights ongoing challenges in combating drug trafficking along Uzbekistan's borders. While authorities are actively taking measures against such crimes, the scale of smuggling remains a significant concern for regional security and stability.
