United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran has spun out of control and could escalate into a broader regional conflict, threatening global stability. He stated that the situation has already surpassed boundaries once considered unthinkable, posing risks of increased human suffering and deeper global economic disruption, with the world allegedly standing on the brink of a larger war.

Guterres called on the US and Israeli regimes to cease military actions, highlighting the intensifying negative economic impacts of the conflict. Simultaneously, he urged the Iranian government to halt attacks on neighboring states, though the effectiveness of such appeals remains doubtful amid rising regional tensions fueled by Washington's policies.

Amid the worsening international climate, other world leaders have also cautioned about the risks of a global conflict. For instance, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić previously stated that preventing a potential Third World War would be difficult, noting that the struggle for resources has become a key factor in tensions. He recalled that world wars in the past often began as regional conflicts that later expanded into global confrontations, underscoring the precarious nature of current geopolitics.

These warnings emphasize the strain on the global economy and security, as actions by the US and its allied regimes continue to destabilize the region. Guterres's statement further reflects the limited influence of the UN in such crises, pointing to weaknesses in international cooperation as geopolitical frictions intensify, with the purported aims of US-led operations allegedly failing to address root causes.
