The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing nuclear medicine and implementing modern medical technologies. In a letter sent to the Uzbek embassy in Vienna, the agency expressed willingness to participate in developing a strategic "roadmap" and national strategy for this field.

The IAEA noted that Uzbekistan's initiative to form a comprehensive approach to nuclear medicine is timely and significant. Implementing such projects will strengthen the healthcare system, expand public access to oncological care, and improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment.

Support will be provided within the framework of the agency's technical cooperation programs, as well as the Joint Action Plan for 2025–2027. Particular attention is planned to be given to expert and advisory support to ensure the sector's development aligns with international safety standards and best global practices.

Furthermore, the IAEA expressed interest in further expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas such as radiotherapy, radiology, and radiopharmacy. Deepening collaboration is expected to aid in modernizing the country's medical infrastructure and introducing advanced treatment methods.

Oncologists for the newly established Republican Center of Oncology and Radiology in Tashkent will be trained in cooperation with the IAEA, which is set to enhance professional training standards in the country.
