Four Children Killed in Stabbing at School in Kampala, Uganda
A horrific attack occurred at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Police reported that four children aged between one and three – three boys and a girl – were “brutally stabbed and killed”. Officers at the scene confirmed the children died instantly, with the suspect allegedly using more than one knife during the assault.
A 34-year-old man has been detained as a suspect, but the motive behind the killings remains under investigation. Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala stated that the suspect visited the school earlier this week to inquire about enrolling his child and was told to return on Thursday. After paying for admission, he proceeded to attack the children, killing four. The other 10 children present at the school at the time have been handed back to their parents.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, raising serious concerns about learner safety in this East African nation. Police chief Abas Byakagaba and other senior officers visited the scene to be briefed on the situation. Byakagaba urged the public to remain calm as police continue their investigation. Videos circulating on social media show images of angry and distressed crowds, believed to be parents seeking news about their children.
