United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called on the United States and Israel to refrain from attacking Iran's power plants and other civilian infrastructure. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric made the statement, warning of potential violations of international humanitarian law norms.

Dujarric emphasized that such attacks could breach core principles of international law, particularly if they cause excessive harm to civilian populations. The UN also urged the conflicting parties to cease hostilities as soon as possible, highlighting the need to preserve regional stability amid escalating tensions.

Against this backdrop, US President Donald Trump issued harsh threats against Tehran. He allegedly threatened to destroy Iran's energy infrastructure and bridges within hours if an ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz—a key route for global oil and gas shipments—is not met. Trump further claimed the US could achieve the 'complete destruction' of Iran in four hours and dismissed accusations of war crimes, purportedly stating that the 'real war crime' would be allowing Iran to possess nuclear weapons.

The US president also reportedly suggested the possibility of controlling Iranian oil and sharply criticized opponents of military action, labeling them 'fools.' These remarks have raised additional concerns about global energy security and the risk of further regional conflict escalation, underscoring the volatile nature of the situation.
