A tragic incident occurred at the "Ayser Chalik" secondary school in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras. According to official data provided by provincial governor Mükremin Ünlüer, an armed attack resulted in the deaths of 4 people and injuries to 20 others. Among the deceased are one teacher and three students. The condition of four of the injured is assessed as serious.

The attacker was an eighth-grade student at the same school. Preliminary reports indicate the shooter—the son of a former law enforcement officer—targeted two classrooms simultaneously. The teenager was armed with a significant arsenal: five firearms and seven fully loaded magazines.

Conflicting information is currently emerging about the shooter's fate. According to some reports, he was neutralized and detained (it was suggested that the principal or a teacher may have subdued him before police arrival). Another version claims the teenager took his own life amid the ensuing chaos.

The tragedy took place around 1:30 PM local time. Forensic experts and psychologists continue to work at the scene. Authorities are investigating the teenager's motives and how the student came to possess firearms.

This incident marks the second attack on an educational institution in Turkey in recent days. The day before, in the Turkish city of Siverek in Şanlıurfa province, a teenager opened fire at a school and took students hostage. The armed assailant, aged 17–18, entered the grounds of the Ahmet Koyuncu Anatolian Vocational and Technical High School. According to eyewitnesses, he first fired indiscriminately in the schoolyard before moving inside the building. He was armed with a long-barreled rifle or shotgun. The shooting resulted in injuries to at least 17 people. The attacker is holding some students hostage.
