A large-scale inspection has been initiated in the Charvak free tourist zone in Bostanlyk District, Tashkent Region, starting April 10, aimed at preventing the illegal dumping of construction waste. This was reported by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. The inspection is being carried out by a working group comprising representatives from the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, environmental and tourism police, as well as local authorities.

According to the committee's analysis, a sharp increase in construction activities across all regions of Uzbekistan is leading to problems associated with the illegal dumping of construction waste in unauthorized locations. Specifically, in the Charvak tourist zone, construction has increased tenfold compared to 2020, resulting in a significant rise in cases where project owners illegally dump waste in various places without adhering to environmental standards. Preliminary studies indicate that in 2020–2021, two waste landfills in the district were reclaimed and closed, with waste currently being transported to a landfill in Parkent District.

During raids conducted on April 11–13, 102 violations related to dumping waste in unauthorized locations were identified, and administrative protocols were formalized. Additionally, 19 cases of violations of atmospheric air protection rules were recorded. Using 23 units of special equipment, two illegal dumpsites were eliminated, and 401 tons of various types of waste were removed to special landfills.

To prevent illegal and disorderly waste dumping in the area, online video surveillance devices have been installed at 10 locations, with plans to implement such systems at 40 more points. The committee noted that a "topical 10-day period" has been announced nationwide to ensure ecological sustainability, during which another 11 violations related to dumping construction waste in unauthorized locations were identified and appropriate measures taken.

It is recalled that in Uzbekistan, over 3 months, online cameras detected 2,107 cases of illegal waste dumping. Fines were applied in 322 of these cases, with measures being taken for the remainder. Approximately 700 cameras have been installed across the republic. Dumping solid household and construction waste in unauthorized locations results in fines for citizens ranging from 1 to 3 times the basic calculation amount (from 412,000 to 1.236 million soums), and for officials from 10 to 20 times (from 4.12 million to 8.24 million soums), with repeat offenses leading to even heavier penalties.
