In the Italian city of Naples, a group of armed assailants attacked a branch of Credit Agricole bank. The incident, which occurred during working hours in the Arenella district, began as a robbery attempt but quickly escalated into a hostage situation and a full-scale police operation.

According to eyewitnesses, several individuals wearing masks and motorcycle helmets entered the bank, with one reportedly armed with a pistol. Upon noticing the rapid arrival of carabinieri, the criminals barricaded themselves inside, using people present in the branch as "human shields." A total of 25 hostages were taken, including bank employees and random customers.

The area was immediately cordoned off, with reinforced police units, special forces, and emergency services deployed to the scene. In the late afternoon, authorities decided to storm the building, breaking down doors and entering the premises. All hostages were successfully freed, with no serious injuries reported, although six individuals required medical attention due to psychological shock and hypertensive crisis.

The emergency situation persists at present. The bank building remains surrounded by special forces. Preliminary reports suggest that between two to five robbers may still be hiding inside or in underground utilities. Police are continuing to sweep the premises and review surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators. Naples prosecutor Nicola Gratteri arrived at the site to oversee the investigation.
