Iran has made a new diplomatic overture to the United States, sending a proposal through Pakistan aimed at resolving the ongoing military conflict. The core idea from Tehran is to separate regional security from the nuclear file, addressing them in stages.

According to Axios, this position stems from a lack of internal consensus within Iran's leadership. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reportedly told mediators from Pakistan, Qatar, and Turkey that conservative circles in Tehran oppose Washington's tough demands, including a complete freeze on uranium enrichment for ten years. Therefore, Iran proposes first ensuring free passage through the Strait of Hormuz and providing security guarantees, and only then moving to nuclear negotiations.

The White House confirmed receipt of the document. Official administration spokesperson Olivia Wales stated that the US does not intend to hold detailed discussions through the press, but emphasized Donald Trump's determination to achieve a deal that completely prevents Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Trump himself described the document as "better" than previous versions, but called the proposed concessions insufficient for an immediate agreement.

Analysts believe this initiative is an attempt by Tehran to ease economic pressure and buy time while preserving room for maneuver. Nevertheless, the very fact of the document's transfer indicates a search for ways out of the crisis that emerged after the tightening of sanctions and the cancellation of visits by American envoys to the region. Washington is currently studying Iran's proposals together with the National Security Council.
