Social media users have claimed that the alleged destruction of a climate research center in the United Arab Emirates caused intense precipitation in Iran. DW Fact Check found these claims to be false.

The conspiracy theory alleges Iran bombed a 'secret' UAE climate change center, leading to weekly heavy rainfall and a 5-degree temperature drop in Iran and Iraq. The claim originated from a deleted post by Iran's embassy in Afghanistan.

Experts say cloud seeding technology, which the UAE uses, operates on a small scale and cannot alter weather patterns across an entire region. Professor Edward Gryspeerdt of Imperial College London explained that cloud seeding only works on clouds already prone to precipitation.

The UAE's Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) has been active since 1990 and is not secret. Its X account continued posting after the alleged attack.

Iran experienced severe floods in December due to climate change. The snow video was from Mashhad, not Tehran, where April snow is normal.
