President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent condolences to the Indian leadership over the numerous casualties and injuries caused by heavy rains and storms in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the press service of the head of state, Mirziyoyev addressed President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing sincere sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims. The Uzbek leader also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

As reported by the Economic Times, the powerful cyclone was accompanied by thunderstorms and squally winds. Uttar Pradesh found itself at the epicenter of the destructive storm, which raged for over 36 hours in various districts. Winds toppled walls of buildings and trees. The natural disaster has claimed the lives of more than a hundred local residents.
