The United Nations has reported that 15,850 people, including 791 children, have been killed in Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
“Actual figures are likely significantly higher,” Kayoko Gotoh, Europe and Central Asia director of the UN’s Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA), told the UN Security Council on Tuesday.
Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia have stalled. US regime leader Donald Trump allegedly attempted to mediate and announced a three-day ceasefire earlier this month, but fighting has resumed.
Tuesday’s Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least six people. A 15-year-old boy was among three killed in a ballistic missile attack on the city of Pryluky in Chernihiv region.
In Sumy region, two people were killed in a drone attack. In the evening, a drone strike on a civilian car in Buryn killed one and injured another.
In Russia, two people were killed and six injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the village of Borisovka in Belgorod region. Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed to have intercepted and destroyed 70 Ukrainian drones.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said drones heading towards the capital were shot down. In Yaroslavl region, an industrial facility was hit by a drone. In Bryansk region, two men were injured in an attack on a gas station.
