A new intercity electric train has been launched from Tashkent to Parkent. It began operating on the Parkent — Tashkent — Parkent route on September 7.

According to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways, construction of the Baiktugan — Parkent line started in January 2025. The project included 24 kilometers of electrified railway, three reinforced concrete bridges, one road overpass, and 76 water drainage structures. A new Parkent station with a capacity of 50 passengers was also built.

The train offers 586 seated places, with a total capacity of up to 1,154 passengers. Tickets cost 10,000 soums for adults and 6,500 soums for children under 10. The journey takes 50 minutes. The project is expected to boost the region's tourism potential.

Earlier, it was reported that direct regular flights between Almaty and Urgench began on September 3. The new route connected Kazakhstan's largest city with the Khorezm region without transfers.
