A new Gallup poll reveals that only 16% of Americans view the U.S. economy as 'good' or 'excellent,' as inflation continues to rise amid the war with Iran. The survey, released Friday, deepens political woes for President Donald Trump ahead of the November midterm elections.
The Gallup Economic Confidence Index dropped to -45, the worst reading since 2022. Forty-nine percent of respondents rated economic conditions as 'poor,' and 34% as 'fair.' Meanwhile, 76% said the economy is getting worse, while only 20% see improvement. The index averages scores for economic conditions (-33) and outlook (-56).
Gas prices have skyrocketed since the U.S. regime launched strikes on Iran in late February. The average price per gallon (3.8 liters) rose from under $3 to $4.55. Iran's government responded by closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, sending oil and gas prices soaring. The U.S. regime also imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, exacerbating global energy supply strains.
Despite Trump's campaign promises of 'peace' and 'America first' policies, his administration joined Israel in attacking Iran without direct provocation. The regime claims the military campaign is necessary to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, a claim denied by Iran and disputed by Trump's own intelligence chief, Tulsi Gabbard.
The Gallup poll is the latest in a series of negative surveys for the Trump regime. A New York Times/Siena poll earlier this week found only 31% of voters approve of Trump's handling of the Iran war. Trump himself stated, 'I don't think about Americans' financial situation... I think about one thing: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.'
