Israeli airstrikes killed at least six people in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, as the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders. According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), two young men on a motorcycle were killed in al-Namiriya, another motorcyclist died in al-Duweir, a Syrian man was killed in Abba, one man in Jebchit, and a paramedic was struck by a drone in Arab Salim while inspecting a previous attack site. An air raid in Bazouriyeh, Tyre, left one dead.
The Israeli army spokesperson issued 16 evacuation orders for southern Lebanon, with local sources reporting strikes both before and after the orders. Al Jazeera’s correspondent Obaida Hitto described the attacks as “very violent,” targeting populated areas far from the front line, signaling a “significant expansion of Israeli attacks.”
Rescue teams recovered three bodies from rubble in Srifa, Tyre district. Hezbollah claimed a series of attacks on Israeli military infrastructure, including a drone strike on soldiers in Biyyada and a rocket barrage on positions in Rashaf. The group vowed to continue operations.
The escalation comes amid tense US-Iran peace talks. Despite a ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged fire since early March. Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports 3,151 killed and 9,571 wounded since the conflict began.
Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem called on the Lebanese government to “reverse decisions criminalizing the resistance.” He said US sanctions against nine Hezbollah-linked individuals “will only strengthen our resolve” and criticized Beirut for not taking a stronger stance against Israel.
Hitto noted that civilians face a dilemma: stay in the south near their homes or endure prolonged displacement. The violence shows no signs of abating, with both sides trading fire amid diplomatic uncertainty.
