️ British police announced on Saturday that six more individuals have been charged with violent disorder following a protest over the fatal stabbing of university student Henry Nowak. A total of 11 people now face charges related to the unrest.

️ Nowak, 18, died in December after being stabbed with a ceremonial Sikh dagger by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, himself a Sikh, in Southampton, southern England. Digwa falsely told police he was the victim of a racist assault by Nowak, leading officers to initially handcuff and treat Nowak as a suspect before noticing his injury and attempting resuscitation.

️ Digwa was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. However, the case has attracted anti-immigration activists and far-right politicians who claim it demonstrates bias against white people in the justice system.

️ On Tuesday, police were attacked with chairs, cans, rocks, and pyrotechnics by some of the hundreds attending a protest in Southampton, despite pleas from Nowak's family not to sow division or use the case to cause disturbances.

️ UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the street violence as disgraceful and completely unacceptable. His office also criticized comments by US Vice President JD Vance, who blamed the UK's immigration policy for Nowak's death, accusing him of trying to interfere in democracy and stir up division.
