️ Police in Peel, Ontario, Canada, have arrested former Air Canada captain Geoffrey Wall on charges of fraud and other offenses following a four-month investigation. Authorities allege that the 59-year-old used fraudulent pilot licenses to command more than 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025.

️ According to police, Wall held a valid commercial pilot license but lacked an airline transport pilot license, the highest level of certification required to captain commercial aircraft. He allegedly deceived both Air Canada and civil aviation authorities before retiring in 2025.

️ Wall faces one count of fraud, two counts of uttering forged documents, three counts of possessing a counterfeit trademark, and one count of public mischief. Al Jazeera was unable to locate his legal representatives for comment.

️ Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah said the case strikes at the heart of public trust and safety, as the accused allegedly put hundreds of thousands of passengers at risk across more than 900 flights.

️ Air Canada stated that passenger safety was not compromised, as all pilots undergo mandatory training every six months and an annual flight check. The airline noted that Wall successfully met training requirements and demonstrated high competency.

️ Hassan Shahidi, head of the Flight Safety Foundation, described the case as exceptionally rare. He said that if allegations are proven, it could point to weaknesses in license verification and oversight processes.
