The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on June 18 via social media platform X that, in accordance with an order from President Donald Trump, all restrictions on the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz have been lifted.

CENTCOM stated: “Today, U.S. armed forces lifted the blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas. American forces will not impede the passage of ships to and from Iranian ports. All U.S. measures to enforce the maritime blockade have been terminated.”

The statement added that U.S. naval vessels will remain in the area to monitor compliance with the agreement.

U.S. Vice President David Vance reported at a briefing on June 18 that approximately 12.5 million barrels of oil were transported through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the entry into force of a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, signed by the presidents of the two countries on June 17.
