James Burrows, the acclaimed American director and producer widely regarded as a key figure in the history of television sitcoms, has died at the age of 85. His family announced that he passed away surrounded by loved ones. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Over his career, Burrows directed more than 1,000 television episodes and won 11 Emmy Awards. He is remembered not just for his extensive filmography, but for shaping the rhythm of American comedy for decades.

Burrows was a co-creator of the series "Cheers" and directed iconic shows such as "Friends", "Taxi", "Frasier", "Will & Grace", and "The Big Bang Theory". His work left an indelible mark on television comedy.

Earlier, it was reported that Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, Professor Khadiya Yusupova, passed away at the age of 88. She was a major figure in the art of maqom.
