Marina Mabrey tied the WNBA's single-game scoring record with 53 points, leading the Toronto Tempo to a dominant 125-97 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Sparks.
Mabrey shot 9-of-18 from three-point range, matching the league's single-game record for three-pointers. She previously set a career-high of 37 points on June 19 against Connecticut.
Toronto (9-9) never trailed, jumping out to a 19-6 run in the first quarter. The team shot a blistering 20-of-42 from beyond the arc.
Maria Conde contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds. Julie Allemand recorded a career-high 14 assists along with 13 points. Laura Juskaite added 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench.
For Los Angeles (8-9), Nneka Ogwumike and Dearica Hamby each scored 21 points, and Rae Burrell added 17. However, the Sparks struggled with foul trouble for guards Erica Wheeler and Ariel Atkins, and missed forward Cameron Brink due to an ankle injury.
The Sparks were also without leading scorer Kelsey Plum, who sustained a leg injury in Sunday's win over New York. Without her, Los Angeles sputtered early and never recovered.
