The Netherlands secured top spot in World Cup Group F with a 3-1 victory over Tunisia in Kansas City, avoiding a potential last-32 meeting with Brazil. Ronald Koeman's side took an early lead after an own goal from Ellyes Skhiri and a strike from Brian Brobbey.

Tunisia pulled one back in the second half through Hazem Mastouri, but Jan Paul van Hecke's header restored the Dutch advantage. The Netherlands finished with seven points, edging Japan on goal difference.

The Dutch will face Morocco in the round of 16 in Monterrey on Monday. Tunisia, meanwhile, exit the tournament without a point, having conceded 12 goals in three matches.

Veteran French coach Herve Renard, hired last week after Sabri Lamouchi was sacked, could not prevent further embarrassment for the North Africans, who had cruised through qualifying without conceding.
