Iran has announced that it has reached agreements on the use of part of the frozen $6 billion held in Qatar, as reported by Podrobno.uz.
According to media reports, the issue was discussed in Doha during consultations involving Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, clarified that the funds would not be directly transferred. Instead, they are intended for the purchase of goods needed by Iran.
He also stated that trilateral negotiations between delegations from Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan took place in Doha. The parties discussed the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum, including possible violations of US commitments.
Following the consultations, an agreement was reached to establish a working group to monitor the implementation of the memorandum. Additionally, a direct communication channel is to be launched, through which the parties will record and discuss possible violations of the agreements.
Earlier reports indicated that an attack on a Panamanian tanker sparked a new round of conflict between the US and Iran. After the incident, US forces struck several targets inside Iran, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced retaliatory attacks on US military facilities.
