Mexico's knockout match against England will go ahead as planned on Saturday at 6pm local time (00:00 GMT Sunday), sources told Al Jazeera, dismissing media reports of a possible rescheduling due to weather concerns.

Several outlets reported Friday that the fixture could be moved to avoid inclement weather, but FIFA never confirmed any change. Mexican media had suggested a noon local time kickoff.

Any rescheduling would have affected Brazil's match against Norway in New York, scheduled for 4pm local time. Mexico's previous match against Ecuador was already delayed by rain.

An earlier kickoff would have exposed players to stronger sunshine and higher temperatures in Mexico City, with forecasts showing about 25°C (77°F) at midday and a high UV index. The stadium's 2,200-meter altitude adds further physical strain.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged Mexico's "huge advantage" due to their familiarity with altitude. England forward Marcus Rashford said the team is ready for any conditions.

Midfielder Morgan Rogers added: "It doesn't really affect us. We'll be ready regardless of the time."
