A person was killed in a shooting involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Biddeford, Maine, officials said. The incident occurred just days after an ICE agent fatally shot a 52-year-old Mexican national in Houston, Texas.

Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau posted on Facebook that the shooting happened Monday morning and involved ICE. State Police and the Department of Public Safety are investigating, with the FBI expected to join.

ICE and the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment. Biddeford police referred questions to ICE, and the mayor did not respond.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) expressed deep disturbance and anger, demanding answers about the victim's criminal record, whether it began as a traffic stop, and if body cameras were used. She questioned why ICE was in Maine and expressed concern the victim might have been legally present.

Pingree offered sympathy to the victim and family, saying, “We will be mourning yet another victim.” The shooting comes amid President Donald Trump's escalating immigration enforcement crackdown.

The previous Houston shooting sparked protests, with witnesses disputing ICE's self-defense claim. The agency has not released evidence supporting its account.
