Lando Norris secured his first Formula One victory in eight months, winning the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest. The McLaren driver combined strong pace with a dose of good fortune to claim the win.

Norris started from pole position but lost the lead to teammate Oscar Piastri after running wide at the second corner. He regained the lead when Piastri was delayed by a collision with Carlos Sainz Jr. during a lap, allowing Norris to exit the pits ahead.

“The car was unbelievable today. Well done guys, incredible. We were flying,” Norris said. “Nice to finally be able to do it all for you. Feels like it’s been a while.”

Piastri later retired with a broken gearbox, paving the way for Max Verstappen to take second place. Teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli finished third, further extending his championship lead.

Title rival Lewis Hamilton finished fifth after a penalty for speeding in the pits, while George Russell was seventh after a near-stall at the start. Norris's last full Grand Prix victory came in São Paulo last November, though he won a sprint race in Miami in May.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was the final race before the mid-season break. The next race is the Dutch Grand Prix on August 23.
