A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, has left multiple people dead and others injured, according to local authorities. Police Chief Matthew Hicks said the incident occurred near a busy shopping area where hundreds of people were present, describing the scene as "very chaotic."

The suspected shooter is among the dead, Hicks confirmed. Police are still working to determine the suspect's identity and motive. Local media broadcast footage showing a young man carrying a long gun outside the burger restaurant, which had only opened a week ago at the Twin Falls location.

Hicks stated that the shooting "resulted in fatalities," but authorities are still determining the exact number of victims. "We are working to try to ascertain his identity and the motivations behind [the shooting] and we'll be able to figure that out in the next coming days," he said.

Local public radio station KTVB reported that three people were killed and two were injured, though a city spokesperson indicated the number of victims is expected to be higher. Several people were transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, where spokesperson Taylor Marschner said the hospital is "working closely with law enforcement and emergency responders as they manage the situation."

Twin Falls, a city of about 56,000 residents, is located approximately 130 miles (205 km) southeast of Boise and about 75 miles (120 km) north of the Nevada border. The shooting has once again brought attention to gun violence in the United States, though officials have not yet released further details.
