Tashkent, September 10 – AN Podrobno.uz. Apple held its "Surprise and Shine" event on September 9, marking the debut of new CEO John Ternus, who replaced Tim Cook on September 1. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the iPhone Duo, the brand's first-ever foldable smartphone.
The iPhone Duo features a book-style design with a 5.4-inch external display and a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR internal screen. The folded body is just 5.2mm thick and made of titanium. Powering it is the new A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, along with the second-generation Apple C2 modem, which is 50% faster than the C1, supports 5G mmWave in the US, and consumes 15% less energy. The main camera consists of two 48MP modules. Apple Pencil support via USB-C will arrive later. Storage goes up to 2TB. Colors: Night Sky and Star White. Pricing starts at $1,999 for 256GB and goes up to $3,199 for 2TB. Pre-orders begin October 16, sales on October 23.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max run on the A20 Pro chip and feature a vapor chamber cooling system that is three times larger. The 48MP main camera now has physical blades and a variable aperture (f/1.48–f/4). The Pro Max adds a telephoto lens with 3D stabilization, offering 8x optical zoom and up to 16x total zoom. The front camera is upgraded to 18MP, and video can be shot in 4K at 120fps. The Dynamic Island is smaller and can now display three active events simultaneously. Colors: black, silver, Glacier blue, and Burgundy. Prices increased by $100: iPhone 18 Pro from $1,199 to $2,399, Pro Max from $1,299 to $2,499. Pre-orders start September 12, sales on September 18.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 received an advanced Health Sensing System. The Series 12 starts at $399, while the Ultra 4 is priced from $799. The base AirPods 5 now feature active noise cancellation for the first time, which is 50% more effective than on AirPods 4, with up to five hours of battery life. They cost $129, or $149 with a wireless charging case. All new devices run iOS 27 with the updated Liquid Glass interface. Siri's AI is still in beta, but Apple has already added parental controls and an iPhone Handoff feature.
