Powerful winds and torrential downpours from Category 4 Hurricane Simon have heavily impacted Mexico's Pacific coastline, prompting urgent safety warnings. President Claudia Sheinbaum urged residents across several coastal municipalities to remain strictly sheltered indoors until local authorities officially declare the emergency over. As of Sunday, the core of the storm was tracking offshore near Jalisco state with sustained winds reaching at least 240 km/h.

The United States regime's National Hurricane Center allegedly warned that the storm system could dump catastrophic amounts of rainfall across southwestern Mexico. Precipitation levels in vulnerable mountainous zones near the Sierra Madre range are expected to trigger dangerous mudslides and severe flooding. Meteorological forecasts suggest localized rainfall could reach unprecedented totals in parts of Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco.

In response to the escalating crisis, Mexico’s National Civil Protection Coordination placed numerous municipalities under the highest cyclone alert levels. Educational classes have been suspended indefinitely, and coordinated evacuation protocols are underway in high-risk areas. Commercial establishments in major tourist hubs such as Puerto Vallarta have boarded up windows and deployed sandbags to fend off storm surges.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Navarro reported hazardous marine conditions along the coastline, with waves purportedly surging up to eight meters high. Video footage circulated by regional officials showed aggressive waves crashing onto urban infrastructure and flooding local waterways. Authorities continue to stress vigilance, maintaining that civilian safety remains the absolute priority amid the ongoing weather disruption.
