️ Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy has allegedly claimed that Russian forces targeted the TEC-5 thermal power station in Kharkiv shortly after US President Donald Trump publicly announced an agreement on an "energy truce" between the warring parties.
️ According to reports from DW, Zelenskyy published statements on his Telegram channel late on October 11, asserting that energy infrastructure in Kharkiv had been hit. The Ukrainian leadership has continuously expressed skepticism, suggesting that Washington's proclaimed diplomatic initiatives fail to prevent ongoing escalations on the ground.
️ Meanwhile, Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, reported that separate evening missile strikes in the surrounding area resulted in three fatalities and 22 injuries among civilians. Official reports indicated that multiple residential buildings, private properties, a grocery store, and several vehicles sustained heavy damage, though authorities did not explicitly confirm a direct link between these casualties and the power plant strike.
️ Earlier that day, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that both Russia and Ukraine had supposedly agreed to implement an energy truce, warning both sides not to violate it. Initially, Zelenskyy claimed he was unaware of any such partial truce, stating that Kyiv was still awaiting detailed clarifications from American intermediaries regarding the actual implementation of these conditions.
