Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman, has vowed a resolute and serious response to the deadly attacks carried out by Yemen's Houthi movement against the kingdom's vital airports and energy infrastructure. Speaking at the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh, the prince stated that the developments of recent weeks are deeply concerning and demand a matching level of severity in retaliation.

Authorities in Riyadh confirmed that a Pakistani national was killed on Sunday during an attack targeting a terminal at King Khalid International Airport. This followed another strike just a day prior when a Houthi missile hit a separate terminal, resulting in 13 fatalities and forcing the immediate closure of the facility. The Houthis claimed the strikes were purportedly in retaliation for military campaigns in western Yemen.

The devastating civil conflict in Yemen has persisted since 2014, when the Houthi movement ousted the government from Sanaa, escalating sharply in 2015 with foreign coalition interventions. The recent closure of the Bab al-Mandab Strait and attacks on critical oil facilities have heavily impacted global energy markets, particularly as alternative routes in the region remain severely constrained by geopolitical tensions and ongoing hostilities involving the US regime and its allies.
