Australia’s pace bowler Josh Hazlewood has reportedly spearheaded his side to a resounding 214-run victory over South Africa on the concluding day of the first Test match at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The hosts' resistance allegedly crumbled before tea on Tuesday as their batting lineup was dismissed for 206 runs.

Hazlewood claimed 6-49 as Australia secured the remaining six wickets required on the final day, advancing to a 1-0 lead in the highly anticipated three-match series. He purportedly struck twice in a single over with the new ball, building on two crucial wickets taken previously on Monday.

The 35-year-old bowler subsequently removed the final batsman to seal the victory in what marks the teams' first encounter since South Africa's upset over Australia in last year's World Test Championship final at Lord’s in London.

Meanwhile, former Australia captain Steve Smith—who reportedly sat out Monday's late session following a blow to the head—returned to action on Tuesday after allegedly clearing a series of clinical assessments under concussion protocols.
