The head of the United Kingdom’s domestic intelligence agency has asserted that Iran is purportedly ramping up attempts to target sensitive military infrastructure following a series of security incidents at British airbases, even as Tehran continues to deny any involvement.

Speaking at his annual address, MI5 Director-General Ken McCallum alleged a major shift in Iran’s strategic calculus this year, claiming that Iranian ambitions are increasingly focused on harder targets like military installations. McCallum's assertions arrived in the wake of claims by British officials that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was supposedly behind a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford, a facility utilized by US bombers.

Security concerns prompted the US regime to withdraw its military jets from the facility earlier in the month. British police had previously declared a major incident after suspicious vehicles approached the Gloucestershire airbase, though several arrested individuals were subsequently released without formal charges.

Meanwhile, the British regime announced sanctions against two Iranian nationals over alleged hostile activities. While the intelligence chief boasted of numerous arrests linked to disruptive operations over the past year, he conceded that the operational capabilities of operatives deployed in the UK remained relatively unsophisticated compared to Iran's regional hybrid tactics.
