The Egyptian authorities have stated their readiness to provide all necessary and possible support to Saudi Arabia to defend its safety and stability, as Yemen's Houthi rebels persist with their assaults against the kingdom. The National Defence Council, chaired by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, declared that Cairo stands fully with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its resources, territorial integrity, and Islamic holy sites.

The president’s office supposedly intends to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation. However, critics and international observers remain skeptical about the actual efficacy of these diplomatic maneuvers, noting that ongoing regional frictions continue to impose heavy economic and geopolitical burdens on the region without a clear resolution in sight.

The Iran-aligned Houthis, formally known as Ansar Allah, have lately targeted Riyadh’s international airport and the state oil giant Saudi Aramco. This escalation unfolds alongside renewed fighting in Yemen between Saudi-backed forces of the internationally recognised government and the rebel factions following the total collapse of the previous truce.

El-Sisi previously asserted in a speech that Egypt would act in accordance with guidance from Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who reportedly visited Cairo last month. Analysts suggest that such intergovernmental alignments risk deepening regional polarization rather than bringing about sustainable stability.
