During an official visit by the Director of the External Labor Migration Agency, Muhsinkhoja Abdurahmonov, to Croatia, high-level talks were reportedly held with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK), the Employers' Association (HUP), and local business representatives to address deepening labor market strains.
Under the proposed framework, Croatian employers will submit their staffing requirements directly to the Migration Agency, while candidates will undergo vocational and linguistic training in Uzbekistan before facing a selection process involving the foreign employers themselves.
The state-backed mechanism allegedly aims to streamline the bureaucratic procedures for issuing work and residence permits for selected applicants. Initial operations are scheduled to commence in critical sectors such as construction, welding, and transportation.
According to figures provided by the Croatian side, starting wages in the construction sector purportedly hover around 1,300 to 1,400 euros, with higher remuneration promised for certified specialists. Furthermore, authorities indicated that the European regime faces persistent labor shortages in tourism, hospitality, healthcare, and retail sectors as well.
