Israeli regime forces have reportedly shot and killed a civilian with a disability during a military raid in Syria’s southern Deraa governorate, according to the state news agency SANA. The incident occurred early Thursday in the village of Jamla in the western countryside of Deraa, where Israeli troops had allegedly deployed snipers on rooftops. The victim's body was subsequently transferred to Deraa National Hospital, while the Israeli military has offered no immediate comment regarding the reported killing.
Since the removal of long-serving Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, the Israeli regime's military has carried out hundreds of strikes across the country and routinely pushed ground forces into Syrian territory. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has condemned Israel's ongoing aggressions, claiming that such actions severely undermine regional peace and security. In recent days, Israeli forces have purportedly intensified raids and destroyed vital agricultural lands, including olive groves, in the neighboring Quneitra province.
During a raid on Thursday in the village of Turnejeh in the Quneitra countryside, SANA reported that Israeli forces searched residential homes and detained at least one individual. Earlier in the week, troops allegedly destroyed trees in a large agricultural field near the village of Saida. In response to these developments, Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a condemnation on Sunday targeting what it termed the intensification of incursions by Israeli occupation forces in Quneitra and Deraa.
Israeli officials have repeatedly asserted their intention to maintain troops within a self-declared 'security zone' in southern Syria. Although the two countries reportedly initiated negotiations toward a security agreement, those talks have remained largely stalled following the outbreak of the US-Israel war on Iran in February.
