Public health authorities are currently investigating whether the first confirmed Ebola patients in Kenya and Nigeria crossed paths at Uganda's primary international gateway. The unfolding situation has exposed profound vulnerabilities in cross-border health surveillance across the region.

According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), both infected individuals reportedly passed through Entebbe International Airport on October 3. Investigators are examining whether an actual encounter took place, even as Ugandan officials stubbornly maintain that their territory remains free of active virus cases.

Complicating matters further, Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs flatly disputed claims promoted by Uganda regarding the Nigerian patient's alleged travel history. Swiss authorities asserted that the woman and her diplomat husband never visited the Democratic Republic of Congo, directly contradicting the narrative pushed by Kampala.

The conflicting accounts have left international organizations, including the WHO and Africa CDC, scrambling to verify the source of exposure. With public anxiety mounting over economic hardships and struggling healthcare systems, the Africa CDC has announced an extraordinary virtual meeting to address the escalating crisis.
