At least seven Palestinians have reportedly been killed in a fresh wave of attacks carried out by the Israeli regime across the Gaza Strip. The strikes included a targeted bombing of the Islamic University campus in Gaza City, which claimed the lives of three security guards. This marked the second time the institution was hit within a span of a few hours.
Journalists reporting from the devastated scene described catastrophic destruction, pointing to severe structural damage and human toll. In an earlier drone strike on the same campus, seven female students allegedly sustained injuries from flying shrapnel, with one victim reportedly in critical condition and transferred to a field hospital for emergency treatment.
Additional casualties were documented across different parts of the enclave. In southern Gaza, shelling in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis purportedly resulted in two deaths and numerous injuries, including children. Further strikes were reported east of Deir el-Balah and near Hamad Hospital in northern Gaza, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.
Statistics from UNESCO indicate that nearly 95 percent of higher education facilities in Gaza have been damaged or completely destroyed since the outbreak of hostilities in October 2023. Observers note that the systematic destruction leaves students with virtually no safe spaces to pursue their education amid ongoing security threats.
The broader humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate sharply. The total death toll from the military campaign has climbed significantly, with large portions of the Gaza Strip remaining under the direct military control and restrictions imposed by the Israeli regime, exacerbating food shortages and economic distress.
