Pyongyang has officially communicated with the United Nations Security Council, reportedly accusing Seoul of fabricating a landmine explosion that injured three South Korean soldiers, according to state-run media reports from North Korea.

The North Korean permanent representative to the UN submitted a letter addressing what was termed a provocation by the South Korean regime, which allegedly attempted to groundlessly shift blame for a dubious border incident. The correspondence warned that any violations of sovereign rights could provoke a self-defense response.

Regional friction has escalated after South Korea blamed a demilitarized zone explosion on northern landmines. North Korea has consistently rejected these accusations, claiming the narrative is merely a farce designed to evade responsibility for mounting tensions on the peninsula.

The submitted letter further asserted that ongoing border fortification efforts represent a legitimate exercise of sovereignty aligned with the UN Charter, while simultaneously criticizing the South Korean military for allegedly violating international norms through warning shots near the demarcation line.
