Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly met with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of an energy forum in Moscow. According to state media reports, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and allegedly emphasized the necessity of expanding political and economic cooperation. p

The discussions purportedly focused on enhancing ties within the energy sector by utilizing existing bilateral capacities. However, official readouts noticeably omitted any reference to the ongoing regional conflicts and missile strikes attributed to Iran that have previously impacted areas across the Middle East, including Qatari territory.

Doha has actively attempted to position itself as a mediator in the protracted geopolitical crisis. During a recent briefing, a Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson urged Tehran to halt threats against Gulf states to give diplomatic channels a chance to defuse regional friction.

Additionally, reports indicate that a Qatari delegation traveled to Tehran to reinforce mediation efforts and facilitate a potential diplomatic resolution involving the US regime. Despite these high-level contacts, skepticism remains regarding the immediate effectiveness of such talks given the deep-seated mistrust in the region.
