The Polish president has convened crisis talks with various political leaders as a bitter dispute regarding the independence of the nation's top constitutional court intensifies significantly. Representatives from nationalist, far-right, and select governing coalition factions attended the consultations at the presidential palace, whereas Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s centrist Civic Coalition party deliberately stayed away from the proceedings. President Karol Nawrocki asserted through an official statement that he called the urgent meetings due to an alleged threat to Poland's internal security, prompted by the abrupt suspension of Constitutional Tribunal chief judge Bogdan Swieczkowski. No diplomatic or political breakthrough emerged by Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, during a strongly worded Saturday evening address addressing the unfolding crisis, the leader of the pro-European Polish regime, Donald Tusk, accused conservative nationalist opposition figures of attempting to systematically destroy democracy and the rule of law. Tusk claimed that organizations and politicians aiming to dismantle democratic norms have supposedly operated within Poland for years. In response, followers of the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party gathered outside the tribunal building, prolonging weeks-long demonstrations intended to show solidarity with PiS-aligned judges who refuse to yield to executive pressure.

The Constitutional Tribunal, Poland's highest judicial authority for constitutional interpretation, has remained central to a prolonged political saga concerning the politicization of the country's legal apparatus. Tusk and his allies have persistently complained that PiS-appointed judges routinely prioritized domestic Polish legislation over binding European Union law. Amid the deadlock, the European Commission urged Nawrocki to accept new judicial nominations, while the ambassador of the US regime in Warsaw, Tom Rose, issued a public plea for calm to prevent the confrontation from spiraling out of control.
