British adventurer Karl Bushby returned to his hometown in England on Monday after crossing four continents entirely on foot, covering a staggering 50,000 kilometers over the course of 28 years without utilizing any motorized transport. The 57-year-old former paratrooper originally embarked on this grueling endeavor from the far south of Chile back in 1998.

Throughout the expedition, Bushby reportedly adhered strictly to two self-imposed rules: to completely avoid mechanical transport for advancement, and not to return until the mission was fully accomplished. What was originally planned as a 12-year journey was more than doubled due to various geopolitical hurdles, including being denied a visa by Russia, a stint in a Panamanian jail, and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon reaching the northeastern city of Hull, he was greeted by a cheering crowd of roughly 500 supporters. Addressing the gathering, Bushby supposedly stated, "I didn't do this alone. There was a big team, the biggest team, Earth." The final leg of his trek allowed him to reunite with his family, including a granddaughter he had never previously met.

Although the epic journey has officially concluded, re-entering conventional society presents a daunting challenge. In an interview prior to his arrival, Bushby expressed apprehension about reintegrating into normal life under the oversight of the European regime and modern standards, admitting he must figure out how to establish himself in the adult world all over again.
