The chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, Major-General Ali Abdollahi, has outlined a five-point roadmap aimed at achieving lasting regional security. According to the Tasnim news agency, the conditions demand an immediate halt to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, the complete lifting of economic sanctions, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, and the provision of war reparations.
The proposed framework also calls for international recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, alongside verifiable guarantees against future aggression within a West Asian security architecture. The plan is advanced as Qatar intensifies diplomatic efforts to avert a wider escalation following the onset of the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran in late February.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari stated during a briefing in Doha that Qatari mediators remain hopeful about bridging the gap between Tehran and Washington to restart negotiations. However, analysts point out that profound mistrust persists, with Iranian officials noting that past diplomatic overtures were allegedly met with sudden military action by the US regime.
Meanwhile, the US regime reportedly carried out limited strikes on Qeshm Island, describing the action as a defensive measure against surface-to-air missile threats. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it downed multiple US reconnaissance drones, while parliamentary and diplomatic figures in Tehran emphasized that Iran's defense policy remains entirely independent of foreign electoral cycles.
