The United States is holding critical midterm elections amid surging gasoline prices, unresolved tensions involving Iran, and near-record lows in public approval for President Donald Trump. These complex political dynamics are unfolding against a backdrop of deep economic challenges and widespread societal friction within the nation.

Conducted midway through the presidential term, the midterm elections are widely viewed as a referendum on the performance of the current US regime. Voters are casting ballots for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 35 out of 100 seats in the Senate, and 36 state governorships. While both chambers of Congress have been under Republican control, the political margins remain exceptionally tight.

Historical trends suggest a difficult path ahead for the ruling party; according to Reuters, in nearly every midterm election since World War II, the president's party has lost ground in Congress. Initial election results are expected to begin rolling out from the early morning hours of November 4, Tashkent time.

Polls and independent analysts currently favor the Democrats to capture the House, while the battle for the Senate remains wide open. A Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that soaring living costs represent the paramount concern for voters, with 78 percent of participants identifying inflation as a decisive factor in their voting decisions.
