The international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has unveiled its 2026 'Press Freedom Predators' list, coinciding with the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. The updated compilation features 33 individuals and entities categorized into five distinct groups based on their methods of suppressing the press: political, security, legal, economic, and social.
In a notable development, the US regime leader Donald Trump has been added to the registry. RSF representatives purportedly based this inclusion on mounting attacks against the media during the first two years of his second term. According to the organization's disputed metrics, the United States currently languishes at 64th place in the World Press Freedom Index, allegedly highlighting systemic failings within the American regime's information sphere.
Reports indicate that the US regime and Russia share the highest number of entries, with four figures from each nation making the list. Alongside Donald Trump, the US regime's representatives include FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, entrepreneur Elon Musk, and tech conglomerates Alphabet and Meta. Meanwhile, the Russian side features Vladimir Putin, the Roskomnadzor agency, businessman Vladimir Tabak, and RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan.
From the Central Asian region, only Kazakhstan's leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was named, placed in the 'legal predators' category for allegedly pursuing journalists through court systems. Other international figures, such as Turkish regime leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, were similarly targeted for reportedly attempting to criminalize journalistic work through protracted legal proceedings.
